‘Stranger Things’ Star Joseph Quinn Asked This Castmate to Help Him Perfect His American Accent

To pull off the role of Eddie Munson in Stranger Things season four, actor Joseph Quinn tried everything to perfect an American accent. (FYI, he is British). However, the process proved to be more difficult than he thought. So, he turned to one of his fellow co-stars for help.

The 29-year-old actor recently appeared on the Off Menu podcast and revealed that he often felt like a “sociopath” trying to nail the perfect accent. He said, “After a while, I was so far down the rabbit hole, at points, I’d be like, ‘Do I sound good? Do you like this? Do you like what I’m doing?’”

Quinn decided to confide in his castmate, Joe Keery aka Steve, about his worries and who had a solid response. “I was talking to Joe Keery and at one point I was so deep in it…and he was like ‘Dude, I can’t save you, but I promise you it’s gonna be fine,’” he explained.

And what do you know? Keery’s advice totally worked because the actor went on to become a real scene-stealer in the latest season.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Quinn shared that playing Eddie means a lot to him. “It’s a relief, really. I think doing something like this that’s established already, you’re this kind of new cog in the machine,” the actor said.

“You don’t want to be the one who makes everything fall to pieces,” he continued. “So, it’s very gratifying to know that people have been so accepting and welcoming to Eddie. It means a lot.”
