‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ May Be Getting a Sequel with Two Original Cast Members Returning

Guess what, horror fans? The slasher cult classic, I Know What You Did Last Summer, is getting another sequel. And that’s not even the most exciting part: Two of the original cast members from the first movie may be coming back to reprise their roles.

Per an exclusive report by Entertainment Tonight, stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are in talks to star in the new sequel, which will be directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson—who is the brilliant mind behind films like Do Revenge and Unpregnant.

Neal H. Moritz, who also co-produced the first two films, might return to the new sequel as well and serve as the producer.

Based on the novel by Lois Duncan, I Know What You Did Last Summer follows a group of teenagers who tragically hit a man while driving on the road and cover up the crime. One year later, they all start getting stalked by a hook-wielding killer. Aside from Hewitt and Prinze, the movie also starred Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe.

The horror movie was followed by two sequels, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998) and I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006). The beloved franchise also spawned a reboot series (given the same title as the original movie) on Prime Video. The show only ran for one season and premiered back in October 2021.
