His resume is stacked

Have you been binge-watching the first part of season two of Wednesday like I have?

If so, you’ve probably noticed many of the returning actors from season one, such as Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez and Fred Armisen. Plus, there have been new faces like Joanna Lumley, who looked *so* familiar it took a minute to pinpoint exactly where I'd seen her before. And if you’re like me, you spent a bit of time trying to figure out where exactly you'd seen the serial killer, the Kansas City Scalper, before—and I finally solved the mystery.

The Kansas City Scalper is played by Haley Joel Osment, who you will likely remember from many popular late 1990s/early 2000s films like Forrest Gump (1994) and Steven Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001). Osment began his career with television commercials, which then led to the booking of his debut acting role in the ABC TV sitcom Thunder Alley. After making his feature film debut in 1994’s Forrest Gump, Osment would go on to make appearances on television series like Chicago Hope, Texas Ranger and The Pretender, to name a few, and scored a huge role in 1999’s The Sixth Sense, where he starred alongside Bruce Willis as a child who claims he can see and talk to the dead.

The success of The Sixth Sense led to Osment winning a Saturn Award for “Best Performance by a Younger Actor” and an Academy Award nomination for “Best Supporting Actor”, which made him the second-youngest performer ever to receive an Academy nomination for a supporting role. Osment’s additional roles throughout the 2000s included voice roles in The Country Bears (2002) and The Jungle Book 2 (2003), and later, he alternated between theater and on-screen work, which included a Broadway revival of American Buffalo, a recurring role in season 4 of HBO's Silicon Valley and a voice role LEGO Marvel Avengers: Code Red (2023).

Osment’s most recent role was as Billy Jenkins in Happy Gilmore 2, where he played a pro-golfer on an opposing team with a swing similar to Happy’s.

So, there you have it. Haley Joel Osment has a stacked resume that spans back to his childhood, and I’m so glad I figured out what else I’ve seen him in.

Season two of Wednesday is now streaming on Netflix.
