Calling all Game of Thrones fans! George R.R. Martin just announced he’s developing a stage production that’s set in the fictional Westeros universe.

The beloved author confirmed the exciting news during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The live Game of Thrones adaptation will focus on The Great Tourney at Harrenhall, a fictional event that occurred over a decade before the events depicted in GoT.

“The play will for the first time take audiences deeper behind the scenes of a landmark event that previously was shrouded in mystery,” reads the play’s official description, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Featuring many of the most iconic and well-known characters from the series, the production will boast a story centered around love, vengeance, madness and the dangers of dealing in prophecy, in the process revealing secrets and lies that have only been hinted at until now.”

Martin is developing the production for multiple entities, including Broadway, West End in London and Australia. Although it’s expected to debut sometime in 2023, the author hasn’t revealed any further details about the cast.

This uncertainty leaves us with two burning questions: Will the GoT actors have the opportunity to reprise their roles? Or will the stage production focus on an entirely new set of characters? Guess there’s only one way to find out…
