The People Have Spoken & These Are the 5 Most Tweeted About ‘Game of Thrones’ Characters

Game of Thrones is just days away and suffice it to say, people are ecstatic to return to Westeros. Between the dragons, blood lust and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) romance, we totally get it. What we don’t totally get is something we just learned via Twitter.

It’s no secret that some Game of Thrones characters are more popular than others (ahem, Jon versus Joffrey). But Twitter just released the names of the five most tweeted about characters and, honestly, we were a little surprised.

As with the Google search rankings we recently stumbled across, Jon Snow is the most tweeted about character ever. Daenerys Targaryen is second and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) is third. Makes sense, right? Now here are the wildcards.

We’d expect Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) to come right after her assassin sister, but in fact Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) is the fourth most tweeted about. The real surprise? Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) came in at number five. Sansa has only really come into herself in the last several seasons, while Tyrion and Cersei have been wreaking havoc (and drinking wine) since the beginning. Perhaps that accounts for the Twittersphere gabbing about them more?

Some other fun facts we learned? Residents of the United States have been most vocal about GoT on Twitter since the show premiered. Overall, the show has been tweeted about 200 million times. That’s like, a lot.

But what exactly fans tweet about varies state to state.

Thanks to DaringPlanet.com we now also know that Arya Stark is the most talked about GoT-er on Twitter in 19 states.

Bless you, Twitter, in all your infinite Game of Thrones data wisdom.
