HBO Releases Brand-New Photos as ‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel Begins Production

This just in: The Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, is officially in production.

HBO recently posted a first look at the highly anticipated series, which confirmed House of the Dragon is finally coming to life. Not only did the network share a sneak peek of the table read, but it also introduced the star-studded cast.

House of the Dragon tells the origin story of the Targaryen family. Although it takes place in the Westeros universe, the plot is set 300 years before the events in GoT, so don’t expect to see any familiar faces.

Other House of the Dragon cast members include Eve Best (Nurse Jackie) as Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill) as Otto Hightower, Sonoya Mizuno (Crazy Rich Asians) as Mysaria and Fabien Frankel (Last Christmas) as Ser Criston Cole.

The series is being helmed by showrunners Ryan Condal (Colony) and Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones), along with GoT author George R.R. Martin.
