Netflix’s New Trailer for ‘Britney vs. Spears’ Reveals Shocking Detail About Conservatorship Battle

If you watched Framing Britney Spears on Hulu and still want answers, you’re in luck.

Netflix just dropped two brand-new teasers for Britney vs. Spears, which will examine the chain of events that led to Britney Spears’s controversial conservatorship.

Although the first clip is extremely short (18 seconds, to be exact), it already has fans talking. Why, you may ask? Well, the teaser implies that Spears has been trying to end her conservatorship since 2009. (Just let that sink in.)

The trailer features a never-before-heard voicemail, which was recorded on January 21, 2009, just after midnight. In the audio clip, Spears is trying to enlist a lawyer to help end her conservatorship.

“Hi, my name is Britney Spears,” she says. “I called you earlier. I’m calling again because I just wanted to make sure that during the process of eliminating the conservatorship…” Right on cue, the audio cuts out.

The second trailer offers a detailed glimpse at what’s to come in Britney vs. Spears.

The trailers come just a few weeks after Spears had a major breakthrough in her legal battle. After years of failed appeals, the singer’s father, Jamie, finally submitted a petition to end the conservatorship.

The papers, which were first shared by TMZ, said: “Mr. Spears intends to work with the Court and his daughter's new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator.” While Spears hasn’t been freed just yet, it was a step in the right direction.

Britney vs. Spears will hit Netflix on September 28. In the meantime, we’ll be revisiting Spears’s top hits on Spotify.
