Gear Up, ‘Bridgerton’ Fans—We Just Got Our First Clip of Season Two (& the Tension Is *So* Intense)

The moment has finally arrived, Bridgerton fans: We have our first preview of season two.

Since the period drama dropped last December and smashed Netflix records, we've been (impatiently) waiting for the next season to arrive. Now, Netflix has offered the first taste of season two and it's just as good as we had hoped.

The clip was shared during the TUDUM Global Fan Event this weekend, an event hosted by Netflix that, according to the streaming giant, “will bring together our biggest stars and creators from around the world on one virtual stage to celebrate our fans and their favorite series and films.”

In the teaser, we see the eldest Bridgerton sibling, Anthony (played by Jonathan Bailey), engaged in a tense conversation with newcomer Kate Sharma (portrayed by Sex Education actress Simone Ashley). Check the scene out below.

“I was wondering if we'd meet again,” Bailey says to Ashley's character in the clip. However, it becomes clear she's not the oldest Bridgerton's biggest fan, as she tells him, “I find your opinion of yourself entirely too high.”

While this is only the first glimpse we've gotten of new character Kate Sharma, we can already tell we're going to love her energy (and also the tension between these two is going to be good).

As we've previously learned, the upcoming season of Bridgerton will focus on Anthony as he embarks on his quest for true love. While the show is adapted from Julia Quinn's series of novels, the new episodes will follow closely to the second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me.

Phoebe Dynevor, aka Daphne Bridgerton, told Harper's Bazaar, “If we're sticking to the books, it's sort of Anthony's turn now...But there's no such thing as a happy ending, is there? I think love's always shifting and changing. So who knows? I'd like to see what happens next. And also, I'd like to see Daphne get involved in Anthony's love life since he was so involved in hers.”

The end of the teaser revealed that season two will be arriving in 2022 (hopefully at the beginning of the year). Now that summer has come to an end, we're glad we'll have Bridgerton again to bring the heat.
