For many, Botox is a tricky topic. I know women who swear by it and women who vehemently oppose it—both are valid opinions. When it comes to any cosmetic treatment, it’s truly an individual choice; one that can change depending on where you are in life.
Personally, it’s something that I hemmed and hawed over for a solid year before finally trying it out. I’m a big proponent of using non-toxic ingredients wherever possible (especially after my health scare with cancer). Botox literally has "tox" in its name. You see my dilemma, right?
Still, I was curious, and I was tired of looking tired. I missed the smooth, lifted forehead of my 20s, and so, with no small amount of trepidation, I made an appointment with a trusted dermatologist. I went in with a list of questions and walked out with my first injection.
After my conversation with Dr. Melissa Levin (which you’re about to see), I felt good about my decision to move forward with getting Botox. So much of that had to do Dr. Levin herself. She explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and projected the sort of confidence that you want from someone who is about to put a needle in your face.
If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like getting Botox for the first time—or wondered if it hurts, or how much it costs—this video was made for you. It’s not meant to sway you in one way or the other; it was made to (hopefully) answer some of your questions so you can make an informed decision that feels good to you.
