A Dot of Highlighter Might Be All You Need to Wake Up Your Eyes

Despite our best efforts, we don’t always (OK, we rarely) get enough sleep to actually look well rested. Thankfully, a strategic dot of highlighter can help diffuse the situation. Here’s a simple and effective way to brighten up tired peepers on the spot.

What you need: A pearly pencil liner or cream highlighter. (A powder won’t work as well in this case because you need more precision.)

What you do: Apply a small amount of highlighter to your index finger and then dab it right in the middle of your lower lash line. If you’re using a pencil, dot the shimmery pigment directly onto your skin and gently smudge it with your fingertip.

Why it works: The reflective particles in the highlighter draw attention to the center of your eyes—as opposed to the shadows beneath them. You’ve surely heard about highlighting the inner corners of your eyes, but think of this as a much more subtle approach (or as extra help on those really rough mornings). Either way, you’re golden.
