Here’s Why Wells Adams Nearly Had to Propose to Sarah Hyland in an Airport

Wells Adams successfully surprised Sarah Hyland when he proposed back in July. However, the 35-year-old Bachelor in Paradise star recently revealed that his plans were nearly ruined by airport security.

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Adams admitted that he stashed the engagement ring in his carry-on while they were traveling to Fiji. Well, this proved to be a problem when TSA decided to search his luggage. 

“I hid [the engagement ring] in my drone case and then when I flew into Fiji—if you have a drone, and they see it in the X-ray, they inspect it,” he said. “I was really scared that they were going to open the drone case and she was going to see the box that said LS [for Lorraine Schwartz], and it was going to be over.”

So, Adams drew even more attention to himself by asking to speak to the TSA agent in a private room. “Which I’m sure is, like, not what you’re supposed to say to somebody that’s about to check your stuff,” he continued. “And when we got in there, I was like, ‘Hey, man, there’s an engagement ring in there, play it cool.’”

At one point, Adams admitted that he considered getting down on one knee in the airport, adding, “There was a moment where I was like, ‘Am I going to do this in the, like, Fijian Customs?’”

Of course, everything worked out as planned, and Adams vowed to never mess with TSA…ever again.
