‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Will Address the Coronavirus Pandemic & We’re Seriously Concerned About Randall

*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

This Is Us series creator Dan Fogelman is sharing brand-new details about what’s to come in season five, and we’re extremely worried about Randall Pearson (Sterling K. Brown).

It all started when the showrunner answered fan questions on Twitter and confirmed the new episodes of This Is Us will address the coronavirus pandemic. “Yes on COVID,” he wrote. “We’ve decided to attack things head on. Very proud of @ThisIsUsWriters.”

So, what does it mean for the characters? We’re not entirely sure, since Fogelman assured fans that COVID-19 won’t affect the overall plot. “Same planned ending. Same route to get there,” he added.

If we had to guess, we think the writers will incorporate several social distancing aspects in the present-day story line. (For example, wearing masks, staying six feet apart and longing to visit baby Jack.) However, everything else will remain the same.

This is probably bad news for Randall, who has been struggling with anxiety for the past three seasons. The character has been fighting through it, but we can only imagine how he’ll react to the worldwide self-quarantine.

Unfortunately, This Is Us hasn’t resumed production (at least not yet), which means season five is delayed until further notice. Until then, we’ll be crossing our fingers that one of the Big Three honors their dad, Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia), with a plaid face mask.
