The ‘This Is Us’ Season 4 Fall Finale Preview Looks Like It’s Going to Break Our Hearts

*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

Last night’s episode of This Is Us reminded us of something we’d rather forget: sooner or later Rebecca (Mandy Moore) is going to start losing her memory. We learned that she would eventually suffer from Alzheimer’s in the season three finale, but we hoped that was something we wouldn’t have to revisit for seasons to come. Wrong. In season four, episode eight, Randall (Sterling K. Brown) notices his mom is experiencing some unexpected forgetfulness and in the fall finale preview, we see his biggest fear come true.

The trailer gives us a sneak peek into the Thanksgiving episode that “will forever change the Pearsons.”

We see Rebecca lost in the middle of a park. She looks around in confusion as Randall leaves her a voicemail saying, “Hey mom, you haven’t returned any of my texts. I’m trying not to worry.” To be fair, Rebecca is in a new city (Philadelphia) so it’s possible she could get lost like any other tourist. And she has been losing her phone a lot, but the context of the season three finale makes us feel like we’re at the beginning of the end. The fact that she was so evasive and defensive when Randall brought up her “senior moments” in last night’s episode further drove the point home.

The This Is Us season four Fall Finale debuts next Tuesday, November 19, at 9 p.m. PT/ET on NBC. To be honest, we’re kind of dreading watching this happen to one of our favorite characters.
