It’s no secret that Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, have been dominating headlines as of late. Whether they show PDA after a concert or travel to the Bahamas for a secret rendezvous, they always manage to grab the public’s attention. While their relationship is still in the early stages, there’s one key relationship tip we can all learn from them: publicly supporting each other.

This might feel bold for some people, especially if your first instinct is to play it cool when you start dating someone. However, Swift and Kelce are a prime example of how important it is to show up for each other, whether it’s traveling for an out-of-state game, jamming out during a performance you’ve already seen multiple times or wearing their partner’s favorite accessory. Regardless of the scenario, Swift and Kelce always show up for each other—and it doesn’t go unnoticed.

This kind of support is very important in a new relationship, especially if you want it to last. Data backs this up—a 2020 study of 11,196 couples found that when people view their partner as committed and responsive, their relationship quality tended to be highest. Furthermore, the research “suggests that the person we choose is not nearly as important as the relationship we build,” study author Samantha Joel told Inverse. Simply put, there’s power in being present.

While it’s paramount to show up for your partner, it doesn’t need to be a huge display of affection—like flying across the country. It can be as simple as making a sign for their upcoming marathon, promoting their new podcast to your friends and coworkers or attending an event for their job, even if you don’t know anyone else there.

These small acts of support can go a long way in showing how much you care about each other. Whether you stan their relationship or not, there’s no denying that we can learn a thing or two from Swift and Kelce.
