We’re Totally Stealing Sophie, Countess of Wessex’s Parenting Trick

Sophie, Countess of Wessex just shared details about her go-to parenting trick (which we’re totally stealing).

The 56-year-old royal recently spoke with The Telegraph about how she and her husband, Prince Edward, handled the lockdown. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, they were forced to homeschool their two children: Lady Louise Windsor (17) and James, Viscount Severn (13).

While they enjoyed the unexpected family time, it wasn’t all fun and games. The Countess of Wessex explained that when things got heated, she always made her kids walk away and get some fresh air so they could then return with a clear mind.

“If things were kicking off inside, right from the year dot, I’d say: ‘Right…outside!’” she told the outlet. “You come back in again, and the mood is entirely different.”

Sophie revealed that both Louise and James spent their alone time in different ways, adding, “Louise would take herself off on her bike, and James is very self-motivated to get out, so actually, it was never a struggle.”

Despite the small bouts of conflict, the Countess of Wessex noted that her family was extremely “fortunate” during self-isolation. She explained, “There were certainly moments when I think we all felt a bit low. But then you have to sit there and go, hang on—look at our wonderful surroundings, we are very, very lucky, and so many other people are not in that situation.”

BRB, getting some fresh air.
