Sarah Ferguson Shares Birthday Pics of Herself Snuggling Up with Queen Elizabeth’s Corgis

Queen Elizabeth was many things—horseback rider, photographer, brooch collector. But for any royal aficionados, it was evident that the late monarch was also a dog lover, due to the fact that throughout her life, she often kept corgis by her side.

So, when Her Royal Majesty passed away on September 8, many royal followers were curious what would happen to her two pups, Muick and Sandy. Luckily, it was reported by CNN that the beloved corgis would fall under the care of Sarah Ferguson, and her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, and they would live at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Now, Ferguson has just updated followers with a few adorable snaps featuring the two pets.

The Duchess of York is celebrating her 63rd birthday today, October 15, and so she decided to commemorate the moment with pics of herself snuggling with Muick and Sandy.

“The presents that keep giving..” Ferguson wrote in her caption.

This first snap showed the duchess lying in the grass and smiling as she looked at the two dogs—but she didn't stop there. Immediately after, Ferguson posted a slideshow from the same moment, where we got even more photos of her hugging and playing with the pups.

While many followers sent birthday wishes in the comments, they also showed their excitement that Muick and Sandy are clearly in good hands.

One user wrote, “So happy they are with you and loved,” while another wrote, “My heart melts at this.” One person also commented, “So lovely to see them both happy and loving you.”

It made sense that the dogs were taken in by Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, because they were actually a gift to Queen Elizabeth from the prince and the pair's two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph reported that in recent years, the Duchess of York had developed a special bond with the late queen, due to their shared love of animals. The publication wrote, “The Duchess bonded with Her Majesty over dog walking and riding horses and, even after her divorce, she would continue her great friendship with Her Majesty, by walking the dogs in Frogmore and chatting.”
