Rihanna Gives Birth to Her First Child—Here’s What We Know

This just in: Rihanna is officially a mom!

The 34-year-old singer has secretly given birth to her first child, a healthy baby boy. TMZ was the first outlet to break the news, claiming that “sources with direct knowledge tell us he was born on May 13 in Los Angeles—but we don’t yet know his name.” (The report was later confirmed by sources speaking to Entertainment Tonight.)

We first learned about RiRi’s pregnancy earlier this year when People confirmed that she was expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Rakim Mayers (A$AP Rocky). Shortly after the news broke, the singer took a snowy walk in Harlem and wore an unbuttoned jacket with her baby bump clearly visible.

The pregnancy announcement wasn’t a huge surprise to some fans. A few days before she debuted her baby bump, Rihanna was seen at Pastis Restaurant in New York City, where she sported a blue windbreaker and draped a fur shawl over her shoulder (effectively hiding her big news).

In the past, Rihanna has talked about her desire to be a mother, telling British Vogue that she wants three or four children, even if there isn't a partner in the picture. “I feel like society makes me want to feel like, ‘Oh, you got it wrong.’ They diminish you as a mother if there's not a dad in your kids' lives,” the singer said. “But the only thing that matters is happiness—that's the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That's the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.”

Congratulations to Rihanna on her growing family!
