The Royal Family Shared a Throwback of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, and Her Royal Majesty Looks So in Love

In honor of Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, the royal family has been sharing all kinds of notable throwbacks to Instagram, including rare snaps of the monarch as a young girl and special moments from throughout her reign.

However, in a photo that was uploaded earlier this weekend, we got a rare glimpse of Queen Elizabeth with her late husband, Prince Philip, from back in the ’80s. In this pic, Queen Elizabeth looks super in love as she looks over to the Duke of Edinburgh and gives him a wide smile.

The caption said, “1982: The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh attend the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane.”

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were married for 73 years before the duke's passing last April, and the queen has honored her longtime relationship with him in many ways since, including special brooches and speeches.

In the past, Her Royal Majesty has talked about the importance of her marriage. At her Diamond Jubilee in 2012, the queen said, “During these years as your Queen, the support of my family has, across the generations, been beyond measure. Prince Philip is, I believe, well-known for declining compliments of any kind. But throughout he has been a constant strength and guide.”

This romantic post is just the latest throwback that's been shared to the royal family Instagram account. A few weeks back, we got a rare post of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip with John and Jackie Kennedy. In the caption, they said, “1961: President John F Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy are welcomed by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace.”

What an iconic couple.
