The iconic American designer explained on Instagram that 15 artisans in Mumbai embroidered the coat of her dress by hand over the course of 1,826 hours. The Chantilly lace-inspired coat included 32,000 pearlescent sequins, 5,600 seed beads and 11,632 Swarovski crystals. Think that’s a lot? Well, the strapless column dress underneath features 2 million sequins. Two. Million.
Also sewn into the coat was her husband’s full name, Nicholas Jersy Jonas, their wedding date, December 1, and the word “compassion.”
