Princess Madeleine of Sweden has been MIA from social media for nearly two months. And now, the 39-year-old royal has finally returned to Instagram in honor of a super-special occasion.
Over the weekend, Princess Madeleine broke her social media hiatus by sharing a surprise photo on Instagram. The post featured a never-before-seen picture of her daughter, Princess Leonore, who just turned 8.
The pic features Princess Leonore posing in front of a nature-filled background. The young royal is sporting a short haircut and wearing a patterned shirt with pearl earrings.
The caption read, “Happy Birthday to our strong and beautiful Leonore!”
The post has been a longtime coming. Princess Madeleine’s last photo was shared in December 2021, featuring her and her husband, Christopher O’Neill, posing in front of a Christmas tree with their three children: Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas (6) and Princess Adrienne (3). They wrote, “We wish everyone Merry Christmas and all the best for 2022!”
Prior to that, Princess Madeleine was fairly active on social media. While she didn’t flood our feeds on a daily basis, she posted at least once a month—sometimes more.
Princess Madeleine (AKA Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland) is the youngest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. Although she and O’Neill resided in New York as newlyweds, they relocated to Florida shortly after, which is where they currently live.
