Did You Spot This Nod to Princess Diana on the Emmys Red Carpet Last Year?

The 2020 Emmy Awards are set to run this upcoming weekend, but of course, just like everything else this year, the awards ceremony will look very different from years past. Instead of gathering at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, host Jimmy Kimmel and all the presenters, nominees and winners will either be prerecorded or stream their remarks from home (or some other socially distanced location). It’s unclear whether the stars will opt for designer gowns or cozy sweatsuits (we’re secretly hoping for a lot of the latter), which has us reminiscing about last year’s most gorgeous red carpet moments. In particular, the plethora of dresses that seemed inspired by none other than Princess Diana.

There are some fashion icons who continue to influence our wardrobe choices even long after they’re gone, and this is especially true of Lady Di. Of course, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have paid homage to the princess who came before them on multiple occasions, but they’re not the only celebrities to use her as their muse. In fact, at least five ladies who walked the red carpet at last year’s Emmy Awards were spotted in modern versions of one of Diana’s best looks.

On a 1989 trip to Kuwait City, the Princess of Wales wore a gorgeous pink and red Catherine Walker suit. And although she definitely wasn't the first to rock the vibrant color combination, she was most certainly the one to wear it best.

Well, at least until the Emmys. Here are all the women who embraced Diana’s bright and cheery color pairing at last year’s event.
