No Red Carpet? NBD. Here, 5 Emmys Outfit Predictions for This Year’s Quarantine Edition

Last year, in anticipation of the 71st annual Primetime Emmy Awards, we took it upon ourselves to predict what our favorite stars were going to wear on the red carpet. Spoiler alert: We were pretty far off. However, this time around, we think we have a better idea of what a handful of A-listers will be sporting, considering they’ll be watching the show from the comfort of their own home.

ICYMI: The 72nd ceremony, which takes place this Sunday, will be held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing concerns. So, while there won’t be a usual red carpet, we fully expect host Jimmy Kimmel to virtually chat with presenters, winners and nominees, meaning we’ll still get to see some fashion.

If we’re going to take a guess, we predict to see a variety of ensembles this year, from sweat pants and pajamas to full-face glam (and for the ambitious, maybe even a few carpet-worthy gowns). From Billy Porter to Zendaya, five quarantine Emmy outfit predictions we’re crossing our fingers to see this Sunday (courtesy of our mildly impressive PhotoShop skills).

1. Sandra Oh

Sandra Oh’s all-time greatest carpet accessory is...her parents (who accompanied her during the 2018 ceremony). And while we’re hoping they’ll be making a virtual appearance with their daughter this year, we suggest Oh trade her glamorous red gown for a sleek white bathrobe (that's what we would do). If we’re lucky, mom and dad, Joon-Soo and Young-Nam Oh, will wear matching ones.

2. Christina Applegate

Nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Applegate might decide to dress up or she may keep it casual. Either way we know she’ll stand out (duh). And what better way to make a statement than a comfortable onesie? If she wins, it’ll definitely be the first time we’ve seen an acceptance speech given in footy pajamas.

3. Jameela Jamil

Actually, we’re predicting to see more than one “vote” shirt during this ceremony. But if we had to bet on one person to 100% pull it off, it would be Jameela Jamil. And we’re totally here for it.

4. Zendaya

We could be totally wrong here and fashion icon Zendaya could make her virtual appearance in another light up Cinderella gown (TBT to the Met Gala). But, we’re thinking she might opt for something more couch-suitable, without compromising style, like this track suit from Australian brand P.E. Nation.

5. Billy Porter

While we usually expect elaborate capes and mechanical hats when the Pose star steps on the carpet, this year we imagine he’ll still bring the wow factor, only in something a little more comfortable. For example, this brightly patterned Chulaap two piece seen at 2019 Barcelona Fashion Week.

Just a few more days until we can see if these predictions are accurate. We'll be sporting the Sandra Oh.
