Prince William Posts ‘Group Chat’ on Instagram Revealing Finalists of Earthshot Prize

The finalists for the 2022 Earthshot Prize have officially entered the chat.

Earlier this morning, the contenders for the prestigious environmental award program were revealed in a brand-new video posted to the Prince and Princess of Wales’s Instagram account. 

In the short clip, Prince William opens his phone and tries to make a small (well not quite) group chat on his phone with all the Earthshot Prize finalists in it. And the Prince of Wales even comes up with a name for the group: Earthshot Finalists 2022.

In the faux text chain, William shared an encouraging video message and posted it to the chat. “Hello, Earthshot finalists of 2022. Great to have you on board. You’re doing fantastic work and I’m really looking forward to Boston.”

Back in July, the royal announced the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony will be held in Boston, Massachusetts, this December. In a special video posted to the Wales’ Twitter account, William made the official announcement and shared the location for the honorary event.

“In 2022, we're back and bringing Earthshot to the USA where we'll award the next five winners of the Prize,” William says in the clip. In a flash, the video cuts to Red Sox player Xander Bogaerts and he says, “And we will be doing it right here in Boston.”
