Prince Charles Stepped Into a Boxing Ring In Cuba, and The Picture Is Pure Gold

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles are really living it up in the Caribbean. They’ve been rubbing elbows with Lionel Richie in Barbados and wearing breezy caftans left and right. But Charles just took it a step further—into a boxing ring, to be precise.

The 70-year-old Prince of Wales was seen climbing into the ring during a visit to Rafael Trejo Boxing Gym on Monday.

According to reports, Charles viewed a training session and met some boxers during the visit. He also spoke to young and older student boxers at the gym, which runs classes for schools and community members in Havana.

Cuba may currently hold the World Series Boxing title, but Charles’s own boxing skills are TBD. Thankfully, the boxers took some time time to coach the prince, giving him tips on hand and foot positioning techniques used during sparring sessions.

On Tuesday (following the brief boxing stint), the royal duo attended a British Classic Car event, driving around Havana in a 1953 black MG TD convertible and hanging out with leather-clad motorcyclists and car enthusiasts.

Life in the tropics is rough for a royal. Next we’ll probably find them lounging in bikinis—for “work,” of course.
