‘Outer Banks’ Is Officially the #1 Show on Netflix. Here’s Everything You Need to Know About Season 2

Good news, Outer Banks fans: Netflix recently blessed us with more John B.

Almost a year after the streaming service renewed the popular series for season two, it’s finally been released. After a few days, it has already managed to score the number one spot on Netflix’s most popular TV shows list. The best part? The entire O.G. cast has reprised their roles, including Chase Stokes (John B), Madelyn Cline (Sarah), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Rudy Pankow (JJ), Austin North (Topper), Drew Starkey (Rafe), Deion Smith (Kelce) and Charles Esten (Ward).

Keep reading for everything we know.

1. What is Outer Banks about?

The show follows a group of teenagers (dubbed the “Pogues”) living in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. When a hurricane hits the vacation destination, it leads to a series of mysterious events, like missing characters, unexpected romances and a treasure hunt gone awry.

2. What’s the story line for season two?

Stokes previously told PureWow that John B’s story isn’t finished just yet. “I think we’ve got a lot more stories to tell,” he said. “I mean, with [series creators] Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke and the way their brains work, they can just continue to make stories over and over again. I can’t wait.” And it seems like he was right, because Netflix’s official synopsis teases more adventures—only this time, in the Bahamas.

It reads, “Season two finds John B and Sarah on the run—and in over their heads—in the Bahamas. New friends also bring new foes as they’re back on the trail of the gold, while the stakes for Kiara, Pope and JJ rapidly escalate at home. The $400M is still in the game, but will the uncovering of a new-found secret reunite the group for a fresh mission? The adventure of a lifetime awaits, but uncharted waters ahead mean our Pogues must do all they can to make it out alive.”

3. Is there a trailer?

Yup, Netflix dropped the trailer in mid-June. Watch the two-minute clip above.

4. When did season 2 air? And is it worth the watch?

All ten episodes of the second installment dropped on the platform on July 30. Read our full review here

5. Will there be more seasons of Outer Banks?

While discussing the future of Outer Banks, Stokes revealed that the creators are eyeing a five-season run. “I heard something—through the internet, actually, I didn’t even know this—and I texted Josh, and I was like, ‘You want to do five seasons?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, I would love to.’ Just the idea of him thinking that far into the future is just blowing my mind with excitement.”

Happy bingeing.
