The Latest ‘Lion King’ Trailer Just Debuted During the Oscars, and Where Is Beyoncé?

Well, we’re glad we watched the Oscars thus far, if only to get another glimpse at the new live-action remake of The Lion King. The last trailer broke records, but this one broke our heart.

In the 60-second spot, we’re treated to baby Simba placing his paw in dad Mufasa’s print (sniffles), sweeping views of the African Sahara (CGI), Rafiki (voiced by John Kani) and an intense fade-to-black as “LONG LIVE THE LION KING” flashes across the screen. Just us getting emotional over here?

The reboot of Disney’s 1994 classic is directed by Jon Favreau and stars Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, John Oliver as Zazu, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar and more. Is this why we heard rumors of Beyoncé attending tonight’s ceremony?

The movie is due out on July 19, 2019. We can hardly wait for a trailer with voices, let alone Beyoncé.
