Meghan Markle’s Latest Look Is a Total Throwback to Her First Outing with Prince Harry

A lot has changed since Meghan Markle first began dating Prince Harry in 2016. She moved to London (and lives in a palace, no less), became a duchess, and she’s pregnant with her first child. But there are some things that never change, like her love of a good, crisp white button-down.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex stepped out today for the Endeavour Fund Awards at Draper’s Hall in London, wearing an elegant ensemble that harkened to mind her first outing with Prince Harry. Ah, it feels good to reminisce, doesn’t it?

To attend the awards ceremony, which celebrates the achievements of sick, wounded and injured military veterans, Markle opted for a white button-down and black wrap skirt from her go-to brand, Givenchy. She completed the look with a striking pair of black Aquazzura mules with gold strappy detailing on the top of her foot and a black silk clutch with a statement clasp.

It’s a classic look that reminds us of the now-iconic ripped jeans and white button-down she rocked at the Invictus Games in Toronto in what seems like so long ago. (It was 2017, for the record.)

That time around, Markle’s white button-down was from her friend Misha Nonoo’s self-titled line and was aptly called “The Husband Shirt.” Markle’s outfit not only made a statement about the seriousness of her and Prince Harry’s relationship, but it also shed light on the type of royal she would set out to be. Since becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Markle has kept true to that approachable and relaxed yet fashion-forward vibe.

It just goes to show, pregnant or in the throes of new love, there’s one constant in Meghan Markle’s wardrobe: a well-tailored button-down. That’s a fashion staple we can totally get behind.
