The Real Meaning Behind Meghan Markle’s Pink Ring From Her Recent Surprise Appearance

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently appeared for the first time since making two major announcements (including major pregnancy news). And while we were originally focused on her gorgeous Oscar de la Renta dress, we almost missed a very special accessory.

ICYMI: On Monday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made an unexpected virtual appearance on Spotify's Stream On event, during which the couple shared details about their new production company, Archewell Audio, as well as their new podcasts.

“We're using podcasting to drive powerful conversations,” Markle said during the appearance. “We created Archewell Audio so we could elevate voices that maybe aren't being heard, and hear people's stories.”

For the occasion, the 39-year-old mother stunned in a drop-waist dress from Oscar de la Renta. Called the Citrus Primavera Peplum Hem Dress, the piece features lemon appliques and gives off some serious ‘60s vibes. Oh, and it also retails for a whopping $3,490.

However, according to People, fans with a keen eye for detail noticed that the duchess was also sporting a Pink Sapphire Cocktail Ring With Diamond Pavé from the Canadian jewelry company Ecksand. The ring was a tribute to Canada, a country where she lived during her time filming Suits, as well as for a few months prior to her family’s big move to the U.S.

The ring is also environmentally friendly—something the expecting mother has always been passionate about. Retailing for $1,144, the accessory includes an ethically-sourced rose cut pink sapphire as well as a 100 percent recycled gold band.

We can’t believe we almost missed this.
