Meghan Markle Is Officially Becoming…A Fashion Designer?!

Meghan Markle is many things: A duchess, a mother, a wife, an activist and a former actress. Now, the 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex is adding a whole new (albeit very surprising) item to her résumé.

In a sort of homage to her impeccably dressed Suits character, Rachel Zane, Markle is officially launching a workwear capsule collection. Yes, in addition to all of the fantastic things she already is, Markle is becoming a fashion designer.

According to royal reporter Omid Scobie, Markle announced the news in British Vogue, writing, “Not only does this allow us to be a part of each other’s story, it reminds us we are in it together.”

But, like her guest editorship for the September issue of British Vogue, there’s a deeper meaning behind her foray into fashion design. The Duchess of Sussex’s new collection will include a one-for-one component. So, for each item purchased, one will be donated to a woman in need via Markle’s patronage, Smart Works.

The organization offers unemployed women coaching and clothing to help nail their next job interview. Markle has served as patron of the foundation since January of this year.

The duchess has tapped friend Misha Nonoo, as well as Marks & Spencer, Jigsaw, and John Lewis to help create the line of workwear, which will become available later this year.
