This Is Not a Drill: Marie Kondo Is Releasing a Children’s Book

Thanks to Marie Kondo’s best-selling book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, our drawers are looking more Pinterest-worthy by the day. So, it’s no surprise the 34-year-old organizing guru is preparing to share her ways with an even younger audience.

Kondo recently revealed that she’s releasing a children’s book called Kiki & Jax: The Life-Changing Magic of Friendship, which subtly introduces kids to the joy of tidying up. (Bless you, Marie.)

The author announced the exciting news on her personal Instagram account and shared a photo of the book with the caption, “Introducing Kiki & Jax my upcoming children’s picture book co-written and illustrated by @salinayoon. It’s a timeless story about friendship, and I hope that the characters of Kiki and Jax will inspire children and families to tidy and embrace joy!”

Kiki & Jax: The Life-Changing Magic of Friendship tells the story of two best friends: Kiki, a collector, and Jax, a sorter. When Kiki’s belongings start infiltrating their space, the pair is forced to make room for the most important element of joy: friendship. (Although the book won’t hit shelves until November 5, it’s currently available for preorder.)

Kondo originally gained popularity in 2011 when she published The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. She went on to release three additional books and even starred in the popular Netflix series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.

Now this sparks joy.
