Luke Perry’s Daughter Just Built & Named a School After Him

It’s been almost two months since Luke Perry (aka our pretend teenage boyfriend) tragically passed away after suffering a massive stroke at age 52. While the Riverdale showrunners already dedicated all future episodes to the late actor, his daughter, Sophie, is continuing his legacy in a concrete (literally) way.

Yesterday, the former teen heartthrob’s daughter, 18, revealed that she finished building a school in Malawi, Africa—a project that was delayed due to her father’s death.

In the caption, Sophie thanked fans for their support before confirming the facility will be named after the one and only Luke Perry.

“Thank you to everybody who donated to help with our projects! Our first school is finished, and I can’t tell you how proud and excited I am to see it open on Wednesday,” she wrote. “Thank you to my amazing partner Ruben for everything. Especially for fighting to name the school after my dad.”

The project holds a special place in Sophie’s heart, since she was in Malawi when Luke passed away. Although the teen flew home to be with her mom, Rachel “Minnie” Sharp, and her brother, Jack, she later returned to Africa to complete the project, which she documented on Instagram.

“First few days back in Malawi have been very emotional but it feels right to come back, to finish what I started, to do the most with whatever time we have left,” she wrote earlier this month. “I recently learned that may not be as much time as we think. It was quick and scary to leave home again so soon, but there’s a job to be done, and someone to make proud.”

Talk about a job well done.
