Luke Perry’s legacy will live on in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The late actor, who passed away unexpectedly on March 4 at the age of 52 after suffering a massive stroke, was part of the star-studded cast attached to director Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film. Due to the unforeseen circumstances, many fans have wondered if Perry will still appear in the movie.

The Riverdale star initially signed on to portray real-life actor Wayne Maunder (photographed below), who starred in the Western TV show Lancer. According to reports, the film wrapped prior to Perry’s saddening death, meaning he is expected to still appear as Maunder in the movie.

Set in 1969 Los Angeles, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood centers around Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), a former Western TV star who’s struggling to make ends meet in the dawn of a new era. After a long string of guest star work on TV shows, which presumably includes Lancer, Rick and his longtime best friend, roommate and stunt double, Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), begin to consider moving to Italy to break into the spaghetti Western film scene. Amidst all this, their very famous next-door neighbor, Sharon Tate, is brutally murdered by the Manson Family at the behest of cult leader Charles Manson

How Perry’s character fits into all of this is unknown, but Maunder did star on Lancer from 1968 to 1970, which would put him on the Hollywood scene at the same time as Rick, Cliff, Sharon Tate and the rest of the film’s characters.

One thing’s for sure: We’re looking forward to watching the iconic actor’s swan song when Once Upon a Time in Hollywood hits theaters on Friday, July 26.
