Lady Gaga Is Coming Back to the Big Screen in a New Movie About the Gucci Murder

It’s been over a year since Lady Gaga blessed us with her vocals (and acting performance) in A Star Is Born. And now, the 33-year-old singer is preparing for her highly anticipated return to the big screen.

Gaga is set to star in an upcoming film about the Gucci murder, according to Deadline. Although the project doesn’t have an official title, we do know that it will be based on Sara Gay Forden’s 2000 book, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed.

Gaga will play Patrizia Reggiani, who is nicknamed the “Black Widow.” Reggiani is the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci. She was tried and convicted of hiring a hitman to murder Maurizio in front of his office in 1995. (Not to be confused with The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.)

While Reggiani spent 18 years in prison, she was released in October 2016 due to “good behavior.” The movie will document her story from innocent housewife to conniving murderess, so ready thy popcorn.

No further casting details about the film have been released, though we do know it will be directed by Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner).

This will be Gaga’s first major role since she played Ally in A Star Is Born. She even won an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Shallow,” which she sang alongside Bradley Cooper.

(*Sniff, sniff*) Is that another Academy Award we smell?
