‘Riverdale’ Star KJ Apa Is Getting Bombarded with Baby Archie Jokes

Two days after welcoming their first child, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their new son’s name: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Although we highly doubt it’s inspired by Riverdale’s Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), that didn’t stop the actor’s peers from poking fun at his now-royal on-screen moniker.

Shortly after the royal baby news broke, Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) addressed the elephant in the room and shared a selfie on Instagram featuring herself and the “royal baby”—aka Apa.

She captioned the post, “Me & the royal baby. Congrats Meghan & Harry!”

The comparison is quite fitting, since Apa plays a character named Archie on Riverdale. He’s also known for his fiery red hair—just like Prince Harry.

So, it was only a matter of time before Netflix joined in on the fun. The streaming service shared a slideshow on Instagram, featuring Apa’s face photoshopped on the baby’s body.

The caption read, “And y’all thought you were the biggest Riverdale stans. Welcome royal baby Archie, earl of Riverdale.”

Earlier this week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their first child at 5:26 a.m. at The Portland in London, a private maternity-only hospital near Regent’s Park. Two days later, they debuted their new son to the world before announcing little Archie’s name.

Here’s hoping the royal baby doesn’t follow in Archie Andrews’s footsteps of juvenile detention, illegal boxing matches and the Gargoyle King.
