Kelly Ripa Corrects Friend and Co-Host Ryan Seacrest on Live TV: ‘That’s Not True’

Kelly Ripa wants everyone to know what really happened on the night of New Year’s Eve between Andy Cohen and her friend-slash-co-host Ryan Seacrest.

On Tuesday’s Live with Kelly and Ryan episode, Seacrest talked about hosting the New Year’s Eve television special Dick Clark's New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC.

While he was doing the live broadcast, the American Idol host revealed that Cohen and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper were hosting their special not too far from him. And Seacrest shared how he was trying to get both of their attention.

“It was funny because my big stage was right in front of Anderson and Andy, and so when I was not working, I was trying to get their attention,” he told viewers. “I thought maybe I was in the shot. I just wanted to wave and say ‘Hi.’ You know, they have a great show.”

Seacrest added that Anderson turned around and encouraged him to “have a good show,” but Cohen did not do the same. “Andy did not turn around,” he continued.

Ripa playfully chimed in and tried to offer some clarification to the situation, revealing that Cohen tried to get his attention at one point. “That’s not true,” she said with a laugh. “[Cohen] said he was trying to get your attention.”

In case you didn’t know, there’s been some alleged tension (though we have our doubts) between Seacrest and Cohen after the Bravo talk show host talked negatively about the Live co-host’s New Year’s Eve show on live television last year.

“If you look behind me, you’ll see Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers performing,” Cohen said at the time, according to Parade. “I’m sorry but if you’re watching ABC, you’re watching nothing.”

The Watch What Happens Live! host later apologized on his Sirius XM show, Radio Andy. “The only thing is that I slammed the ABC broadcast and I really like Ryan Seacrest and he's a great guy. I really regret saying that, and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it.”

Maybe we get Cohen on the show soon to see the NYE hosts hug it out?
