Kelly Ripa Reveals How She and Mark Consuelos Kept the Spark Alive During the Pandemic

Kelly Ripa teased that her new podcast, Let's Talk Off Camera, would include “a variety of personal and meaningful topics.” And she promised it would be quite juicy too: “We can say whatever the f**k we want here!” Now, the first episode has finally dropped, and it seems Ripa has kept her promise. In her first ep, the Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host discusses her relationship with Mark Consuelos, and in one instance, the TV personality reveals how she and her hubby kept the spark alive during the pandemic: FaceTime sex.

Yep, you read that right. In one extended period of time where the two had to be apart, they turned to a little digital intimacy to keep the heat going.

In the pod, Ripa opened up how, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, she and Consuelos spent the most time they'd ever spent being together. However, Consuelos then noted: “After the first wave, I was stuck in Canada for close to 10 months and we saw each other maybe two weeks over 10 months...We've never spent that much time apart.”

When their guest (and marriage counselor), Dr. Linda Carter, asked how they stayed connected during this time, the pair revealed that they often FaceTimed. “There were rituals...Can I tell you something?” Ripa said. “We had sexual rituals that were so ludicrous over FaceTime.”

The Live host then revealed that she had quite the elaborate setup for these calls. “I became so alarmed at my appearance over FaceTime that I started rigging the computer to hang from a ladder,” Ripa confessed. “I’m not kidding—I hung the computer over a ladder so that I could look up to Mark, so that he did not have to see what gravity was actually doing [to me]. You get really close to yourself in situations where you’re separated from your husband for long periods of time.”

In the rest of the episode, Ripa and Consuelos discussed other aspects of their marriage, such as what would be dealbreakers for them, as well as the various ways in which they've worked to keep their love alive. “I’m a lifer. I want to be married forever,” Consuelos remarked.
