NBC is rearranging its 2022 daytime schedule to fill the soon-to-be empty spot that will have been previously occupied by Ellen DeGeneres. Starting in 2022, Ellen’s show is getting replaced by Kelly Clarkson’s talk show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Valari Staab (president of NBCUniversal local) discussed the announcement in an interview with THR, saying, “These are remarkable achievements for a talk show in its second season. We look forward to Ellen DeGeneres’s 19th season paired with Kelly Clarkson for what is sure to be a blockbuster year. By 2022, The Kelly Clarkson Show will be the star of our daytime entertainment schedules and an asset to our early afternoon newscasts.”
According to Tracie Wilson (executive vice president of NBCUniversal), the decision was a no-brainer. “The Kelly Clarkson Show is one of the most optimistic success stories in first-run syndication,” she explained. “It is a treasured part of NBCUniversal Syndication Studios offering and we are proud to partner with the NBC Owned Television Stations group to continue the show’s success.”
