The bold dress features a polka-dot print, button details and a pie crust collar (a ruffled neckline that was often rocked by Princess Diana). Although it’s hard to tell from the photos, the fabric is textured, giving it a crinkly, slightly pleated appearance.
Middleton accessorized the look with drop earrings, a black velvet Celeste clutch by Jimmy Choo and her go-to black velvet pumps (also by Jimmy Choo). The duchess wore her hair in an intricate updo, which included a half-up style that was secured into a chic ponytail.
Middleton’s ensemble first caught our attention because it looks straight out of Princess Diana’s closet. Everything from the polka dots to the classic silhouette screams Lady Di, and we highly doubt it’s a coincidence
The event was hosted by the Irish deputy prime minister, Simon Coveney. While there, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge browsed some of the museum’s historical treasures, including a first-edition copy of Ulysses by James Joyce. Prince William also gave a keynote speech while Middleton proudly watched from the audience.
Welp, we love this so much.
