After a full day of royal engagements, there’s nothing like a duke and duchess date to unwind and reconnect. Just ask Kate Middleton and Prince William.
After spending the day in Cumbria, England, on Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge popped in for a romantic afternoon spot of tea at the Inn on the Lake in Ullswater. The well-appointed and scenic hotel was fittingly delighted by the duke and duchess’s surprise visit and they memorialized it with an Instagram slideshow.
“We had two VERY special guests stop by today! Our Sales Manager Teresa and Dani, one of our Hotel directors, both had the pleasure of meeting the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge! Oh and some small guests came along too,” the Inn on the Lake in Ullswater captioned the pics. They of course added shocked and happy face emojis.
In the slideshow, the 37-year-old duchess and 36-year-old prince can be seen chatting with the hotel staff. Middleton even employs her go-to parenting move and bends down to talk to a nearby child who looks a bit stunned. (Same, dude.)
A spokesperson for the Inn on the Lake filled in Hello! on the details of their little rendezvous, saying, “It was quite a short break. They came and had afternoon tea with us at the Inn on the Lake.”
The couple reportedly enjoyed afternoon tea in one of the luxury lake view bedrooms and gazed out at Lake Ullswater. Prince William is said to have loved the room and expressed his desire to stay longer next time they’re in the area.
