With the arrival of her new stylist, Kate Middleton has been raising the royal sartorial bar even more than usual lately. She’s donned everything from a mint green Missoni number to Chloè combat boots, and quite frankly we’re loving this more playful side of her personal style. But today, the 37-year-old Duchess of Cambridge truly surprised us.
Middleton stepped out for Action on Addiction’s Addiction Awareness Week event in London looking ravishing in a white off-the-shoulder royal re-wear.
But it wasn’t the bare-shoulder Barbara Casasola number, which she wore to the Art Fund Museum of the Year Awards at the Natural History Museum in July 2016, that took us by surprise. Rather, it was the glittery silver pumps the duchess wore.
They look like real-life Cinderella slippers, right? In actuality, they’re the Romy 100 pump from Jimmy Choo ($745) in silver and dusk blue fireball glitter. Still, we can all agree that glitter, let alone ombre blue to silver glitter, is a surprising choice for the duchess, even if we’re all about it.
Middleton accessorized the look with a silver clutch, copper-colored eye shadow and the most voluminous blowout on her side of the equator.
The event, which seeks to encourage discussion about the painful elements of addiction and connect individuals and families affected by the disease, is a personal favorite of Middleton’s. She serves as patron.
Before the celebration began, she chatted with people in recovery who are part of Action on Addiction and assisted head chef and owner Skye Gyngell with the evening’s meal. Then, Middleton went on to give a brief speech thanking the charity and those involved. She also explained that her involvement in the initiative has helped inform her other charitable efforts, like those focused on mental health.
Between her message and her celebratory outfit, it looks like the evening was all aces.
