Prince William Just Leaked His Nickname for Charlotte (and No, It’s Not ‘Char’)

Prince Harry better watch out. It looks like Prince William is trying to steal his thunder in the race to be "royal dad of the year."

We're totally kidding, but Will did just reveal his nickname for 4-year-old daughter Charlotte, and it's pretty damn cute. (Quite literally, actually.)

In a recent video shared by Kensington Palace, the Duke of Cambridge is seen palling around with his kids in Kate Middleton's newly designed RHS Back to Nature Garden (which was part of the Chelsea Flower Show), and he calls Charlotte over to give him a push on the rope swing (which we kinda want for our garden, TBH). But if you listen closely, he doesn't say Charlotte—he says Mignonette.

If you're also like, "what the…", allow us to explain with our limited knowledge of the French language. Mignonette (from mignon) translates to “small, sweet and delicate.” So basically, Prince William is referring to his daughter as "cutie." Cue the awws.

If that is his nickname for his daughter, that's very sweet. But we also think that he could just be using a generic term of endearment (albeit a fancy, royally appropriate French one). Will could very well have another nickname for Charlotte that we're not privy to. Might he actually call her Lottie like his wife does?

In any event, we hope she gave him an extra push. He deserves it.
