John Krasinski Just Brought Lin-Manuel Miranda & the Original ‘Hamilton’ Cast Together to Surprise a Special Superfan

John Krasinski just made one young Hamilton fan’s day—no, year.

The 40-year-old The Office star surprised 9-year-old Hamilton devotee Aubrey with a special gift from the original cast of the hit Broadway musical on the second episode of his new Some Good News YouTube show. The A Quiet Place director gathered Lin-Manuel Miranda and the rest of the OG Hamilton cast for a Zoom call of epic proportions and surprised Aubrey with a virtual performance of her favorite song, “Alexander Hamilton.”

As you can see in the heartwarming video above, Miranda was first to appear in the video conference and was soon joined by former castmates Leslie Odom Jr., who played Aaron Burr, and Anthony Ramos, who played both John Laurens and Philip Hamilton.

But they weren’t the only ones to serenade Aubrey. Daveed Diggs (Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson), Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan/James Madison), Philippa Soo (Eliza Hamilton) and Christopher Jackson (George Washington) also joined in on the fun.

As a special treat, more actors from the company made an appearance as well, including Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds), Jonathan Groff (King George), Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler) and Javier Muñoz (who started as Miranda’s understudy and eventually portrayed the leading role).

Krasinski felt compelled to make Aubrey’s dreams come true when he heard (via a tweet from her mom) that they were supposed to attend the Jacksonville showing of Hamilton in late March in celebration of Aubrey’s birthday. Due to the virus outbreak, however, the show was canceled and they spent an evening watching Mary Poppins Returns instead. Krasinski and Miranda caught wind of this and in addition to offering Aubrey a chance to see the show on Broadway when life goes back to normal, they decided to give her a show she’ll never forget.

We love a little good news.
