Jennifer Lawrence Was Every Bit the Blushing Bride-to-Be at Her Engagement Party

Jennifer Lawrence has her choice of couture for red carpet premieres and award shows. But when it came time for her to celebrate her engagement to art gallery director Cooke Maroney over the weekend, she opted for a brand close to her heart.

The 28-year-old Oscar winner bucked the norm and selected a blush-hued chiffon wedding gown for her engagement party. The best part? The brand who makes it—L. Wells—couldn’t be more low-key. Oh, and not only that, Lawrence’s cousin, Lauren Wells, is the designer who founded the label. Talk about meaningful.

The Red Sparrow star’s longtime stylists, Jill Lincoln and Jordan Johnson, shared a snap on Instagram of Lawrence smiling shyly on her big night and offered us a detailed look at her cousin’s craftsmanship. But it was her tailor, Christy Rilling, who revealed the special connection between Lawrence and the designer via Instagram.

Lawrence’s gown is breezy, it’s elegant and romantic, to boot. Lucky for us, the L. Wells silk chiffon gown from her 2019 spring/summer collection is currently available to pre-order on Moda Operandi. It’ll set you back $2,300, but to be fair it is a wedding dress.

Lawrence paired the ethereal number with a Roger Vivier pouchette, Casadei strappy heels and some sparkling Fred Leighton jewels.

This isn’t the first time Lawrence has donned an L. Wells design. She famously wore one of her white wedding gowns, swathed in Swiss dot lace, at the Faces Places premiere in October 2017. And with her own nuptials right around the corner, we presume there will be yet another L. Wells moment to swoon over.
