Hannah Ann Sluss Says She Didn’t Want to be the Bachelorette

We had mixed feelings when ABC named Clare Crawley the next Bachelorette, especially since Hannah Ann Sluss deserved another shot at love after that controversial Bachelor finale. But as it turns out, the 23-year-old never wanted to be the Bachelorette in the first place.

Hannah Ann recently sat down for an interview on Nick Viall’s podcast Viall Files (the episode is aptly titled “60 Day Fiancé”), where she discussed everything from her dating life to season 16 of The Bachelorette. While some fans were rooting for Hannah Ann to lead the upcoming season, she admitted that she’s not interested in dating 30-plus men on national television.

“I am not ready for that,” she said. “I’ve moved on but also, it’s different. Right now, dating, no one knows about it, it’s private. But to be dating publicly again… that’s a huge responsibility. If I were to ever do that, I’d want to be just so emotionally and mentally strong, to where I could take that on. Putting myself in Peter’s shoes, that was a big responsibility.”

Hannah Ann went on to say that while she’s ready to start dating again, The Bachelorette would be too big of a commitment. “I just got engaged, you know.  I was very—in my mind and heart—I was already thinking about the future for us,” she added. “That takes time to get back on your feet, which I have. I wanna date just one right person now.”
