Gillian Anderson Looks Exactly Like Margaret Thatcher in New ‘The Crown’ Pics

Remember those photos of Josh O’Connor (Prince Charles) and Emma Corrin (Princess Diana) filming The Crown season four? Well, we finally have a first look at Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher, and her transformation is even better than expected.

The X-Files star, 51, was recently spotted on set of the popular Netflix series, where she will play the former British prime minister, who ran the country from 1979 to 1990.

In the slideshow, Anderson is wearing Thatcher’s signature color (cobalt blue) as she departs a replica ship. Her outfit consists of a matching skirt and blouse, which she paired with pearl earrings, navy pumps and—of course—oversize sunglasses. The spot-on ’80s wig is just icing on the cake.

The look is a dead ringer for the Iron Lady, who was known for her bright fashion choices, classy accessories and perfectly kept hair.

Last month, Netflix announced that Anderson will play the historical figure. Although we were initially skeptical about the transformation process, there’s no denying they nailed it.

Unlike past seasons, the third installment of The Crown will take place in the late ’60s and early ’70s. Since Thatcher didn’t take office until 1979, we’ll probably have to wait until season four to get a glimpse of the controversial character.

The upcoming episodes will feature an all-new cast, including Olivia Colman (Queen Elizabeth), Helena Bonham Carter (Princess Margaret) and Tobias Menzies (Prince Philip).

Brava, Anderson, brava. Season three of The Crown will hit Netflix on November 17.
