Has ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Turned Elisabeth Moss off Motherhood & Marriage? Here’s What She Had to Say

Elisabeth Moss’s 9 to 5 may be dreary as hell, but when it comes to marriage and family, she’s no cynic. The Handmaid’s Tale star opened up about her personal life (which is diametrically opposed to Offred’s, *phew*) with Marie Claire U.K. for their June cover story.

Moss explained that as bleak as Gilead and the IRL dating world is, she’s still down to date…if she can find the time. “It’s actually a problem. But I’m very focused on my work… so it’s difficult to find the time to give yourself to somebody,” Moss admitted.

The award-winning actress went on to say that though she and Fred Armisen consciously uncoupled in 2011, she might like to remarry if it feels right. “I have nothing against getting married again, but what I value even more now is the relationship itself,” Moss shared. “It’s been eight years. I’m older, and hopefully wiser. I’m a romantic, so I love weddings, but I also don’t think you need [a wedding] to have a long-lasting, healthy relationship. Some of the relationships I know that have lasted the longest are the ones that didn’t [get married].” Take Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, for instance.

And though the verdict is still out on the whole love and marriage thing, Moss knows she wants to have kids. “I do want to be a mother. I like the idea of passing on what my mother passed on to me. It’s not for everybody, and I didn’t know if it was going to be for me, but lately, I think it is. I have no idea how I want to do it though or what the plan is.”

Welp, as long as it looks nothing like Offred’s family planning sitch, you’ll be A-OK, Elisabeth.
