In the clip, Crawley kicks off the season by meeting the contestants, who traveled all the way to Palm Springs, California, to film the show (social distancing style). “I see my husband in this room,” she says before yelling, “Cheers!”
The video features never-before-seen footage from season 16, including a sneak peek of night one. Some men are extremely confident about their relationship with Crawley. “At the end of the day, if she picks me, then this is the greatest love story that’s ever been told,” one guy says.
Others, of course, start to question “who is here for the right reasons.” *Stifles yawn* Even one contestant teases a potential confrontation, saying, “This is gonna turn into Lord of the Flies.”
The promo comes just a few weeks after we learned that Adams was replacing Crawley as the star of season 16, per E! News. A source revealed that Crawley found love shortly after the show started filming, which prompted ABC to pursue a new lead.
“The producers have told [Adams] that the season will still lead with Clare and her short-lived journey, and will show Clare falling in love with one of her suitors,” the insider said. “Clare will then conclude her journey and announce that Tayshia is the lead.”
In other words, the drama that ensues on night one is only the beginning. The Bachelorette will premiere on Tuesday, October 13, on ABC.
