Sarah Jessica Parker Reveals That ‘And Just Like That...’ Will Ask This Major Question

As we get closer and closer to the release of And Just Like That..., we are itching to learn more about what's in store for the characters of Sex and the City.

Few details have been shared about the show, and we've had to make our own assumptions based on photos that were taken from the set. However, in a new interview with Vogue, star Sarah Jessica Parker revealed one major tidbit about the revival.

During a discussion with Naomi Fry, Parker took the writer to the set of Carrie Bradshaw's apartment. While there, the pair walked into Carrie's closet, where Parker revealed, “I kept every single solitary thing.” The closet contained all the important articles of clothing from Sex and the City, from Carrie's iconic Manolos to the sandals that were chewed up by Aidan’s dog.

However, when Fry asked why Carrie has this apartment full of stuff when she's now living with Mr. Big, Parker responded, “One of the questions that’s going to come up in And Just Like That… will be: ‘What is it about a place like this that you need to hold on to for all these years? Why can’t you just let it go?’”

Fry, in her profile of Parker, points out the layers to this question, writing, “This question can be taken literally, as in, how many archival Anna Sui slips, Prada clutches and DVF wrap dresses does one need to keep, in a separate one-bedroom, no less, on this journey we call life? But there is also a larger, more symbolic matter here, of course. Have the changes in our modern circumstances—political, social, environmental—made the question of revisiting Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte moot? Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to just let them go?”

Parker sort of answers this second question in the interview when she says, “The world of Carrie and her friends has always been about coming home, and I felt like we needed that right now.”

Per HBO, we know that the reboot will follow our favorite New Yorkers as they “navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”

We can't wait to see what other questions will be answered in December.
