Ryan Murphy Says Macaulay Culkin’s ‘AHS’ Role Includes a ‘Crazy, Erotic’ Love Scene with Kathy Bates

Ryan Murphy is opening up about Macaulay Culkin’s role in the upcoming season of American Horror Story, and it’s about as far from Kevin McCallister in Home Alone as you can get.

The 54-year-old showrunner recently sat down for an interview with E! News, where he shared details on season ten of the popular anthology series. While discussing Culkin’s involvement, Murphy confirmed the character was practically made for the 39-year-old actor. Not only is the role “very, very great” and “insane,” but it also involves a wild sex scene with AHS alum Kathy Bates.

“I told [Culkin] he has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things,” Murphy explained. “And he paused, and he goes, ‘This sounds like the role I was born to play.’ So, he signed up right then and there.”

Although Murphy didn’t share any further details, he’s “excited for [Culkin] to be in my world.”

We first learned about Culkin’s involvement earlier this year when Murphy posted a video on his personal Instagram account, announcing the cast list for season ten. Not only did it include fan-favorites Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, but it also presented an interesting AHS newcomer (Culkin).

The clip features the names of several returning AHS stars, including Paulson, Peters, Bates, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross and Finn Wittrock.

Culkin appears to be the only newcomer (though we wouldn’t be surprised if Murphy has more announcements up his sleeve).

It’s important to point out that AHS veteran Emma Roberts is noticeably missing from the list. She previously appeared in season three (Coven), season four (Freak Show), season eight (Apocalypse) and season nine (1984), so many fans expected her to be included.

Still, we’re not totally surprised that Murphy is low-key turning season ten into a cast reunion, since he previously hinted at just that. “We’re working on an idea for season ten that I think people will love because it’s about reuniting fan-favorite actors to come back,” he told Deadline.

With a cast this talented, we have no doubt it’ll live up to expectations.
