Ali Wong Just Revealed the Cover of Her First Book and (of Course) It’s Amazing

Ali Wong's first book, Dear Girls: Intimate Tales, Untold Secrets, and Advice for Living Your Best Life, won't be published until October 15, but the comedian and writer just shared the book's cover on her Instagram and it has us wishing autumn would hurry up and get here already.

The cover features a tired but glamorous looking Wong sitting in a chair wearing a glittery one-sleeve gown and pink, pointy-toe pumps. It's fab.

Written as letters to her two daughters, the funny and heartfelt book covers everything the girls might need to know in life, from the unpleasantries of dating and how to be a working mom to how she trapped their dad.

Fans of Wong's two hit Netflix specials will recognize her knack for combining raunchy stories with super-relatable life lessons. In 2016's Baby Cobra, an eight-months pregnant Wong shared a super-detailed oral history of her past sexual encounters, plus stories about the good, the bad and the ugly aspects of pregnancy and childbirth. 2018's Hard Knock Wife (of which Chrissy Teigen is a fan) featured Wong candidly discussing the harsh realities of being a first-time mom to her daughter, Mari, while expecting baby number two. (Amidst the hilarity, she also makes some wonderfully unapologetic points about out-earning her husband, Justin Hakuta.)

Wong gets even more personal in Dear Girls, where she shares the wisdom she's learned from a life in comedy and reveals stories from her life off stage, including the brutal singles life in New York (an erectile dysfunction story is involved), reconnecting with her roots in Vietnam and growing up as a wild child in San Francisco.

Luckily, we don't have to wait until October for our next Ali fix. She'll appear next alongside Tiffany Haddish in Netflix's Tuca & Bertie (available to stream on May 3), an animated series for adults about the friendship between 30-year-old birdwomen.
